Cellcom Customers Switch to Verizon Following Outage

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) -- With the ongoing outage affecting Cellcom users, individuals are seeking alternative ways to stay connected with those around them.

A single Verizon outlet is noticing customers changing their service providers.

It’s the process of moving a cell phone number from one carrier to another.

Connor Robertson, who works as the assistant manager at Verizon in Ashwaubenon, mentioned that customers aren't only trading up for new devices; they're also opting to switch their phone numbers.

As per Robertson, this enables them to place calls using their recently acquired phones amid the current service disruption.

However, Robertson indicates that you won't require the new number indefinitely.

"Currently, Cellcom lacks the capability to handle any type of number porting at all. The sole problem you'd face here is simply awaiting a fix so that clients can transfer their numbers. Once Cellcom restores its capacity to accept and manage port requests, it should be able to facilitate the migration of most telephone numbers," stated Robertson.

Robertson also adds to expect a seamless transition and not to be afraid to contact Verizon if you need help.

Those who wish to transfer must have an account number, which can be located in the PDF version of your billing statement.

You'll require a transfer PIN, obtainable from your service provider.
